The teams of Start Engineering JSC started working on numerous key sites from the beginning of 2014, among which is the Sofia Metro Extension, as main subcontractor for complete engineering.
Just like in the previous stages of the first and second metro diameters, Start Engineering JSC actively involves as a main subcontractor on design and execution on parts: electrical systems and installations; transportation automation; dispatcher control and monitoring system; telecommunication systems, including transportation communication system; dispatcher links system; train radio links system; public address system; CCTV system; clock system; fire alarm system; access control system and Security Alarm system. Also included are automatic fare collection system; tunnel ventilation; reconstruction of engineering infrastructure and complete servicing.
Currently work is underway on the newly constructed metro station from the first metro diameter – MS-16 in the area of Business Park Mladost, the route to Sofia Airport encompassing stations from MS-20 and MS-21, as well as the extension of the second metro diameter with MS-12-II at Hladilnika residential district. Start Engineering JSC participates in the metro construction project, in partnership with leading companies in this sector, gaining meanwhile an unprecedented for Bulgaria experience in respect of such large-scale infrastructure projects.
An equipment and software for control of the highest level is used in all newly constructed stations, including: A system for control and signaling of TPS, MV and LV gears, traction control of direct current system DC825 – with entire equipment of Siemens and autonomous system of Start Engineering JSC, handling data from controllers of Siemens at local control levels and SCADA. Telecommunication systems for dispatcher and radio links with entire equipment from Siemens; system for local control of the sanitary-technical facilities, which control is achieved by means of a series of controllers of high level of SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC with the most state-of-the-art communication systems LAN and MODBUS and an option for remote architecture.
The system is entirely redundant with ring structure at local level, using active MOXA equipment; System for a unified control at the TPS, based on PROFIBUS communication with Siemens technology. They provide an uninterruptible auxiliary power supply of each metro station and the current supply of the contact rail for providing the train traction power in the separate sections.
The system for transportation automation for control and monitoring of all trains and the relevant automation equipment on dispatchers’ part is also included as part of the entire network for unified control, including information regarding speed, position, radio link, routing etc. along the entire route. The unified network for control and monitoring is constructed along the entire route of the metro based on double optical ring with active equipment of OTN type (Open Transport Network) X3N10G. Similar modules are installed and interconnected on each station in the Central Dispatcher Center and serve for transfer of all control, monitoring and executing systems.
Other accomplished by the company sites are projects in the field of reconstruction and relocation of gas pipelines. Just in this year the experts of Start Engineering JSC completed the work and technical supervision at the passage of gas pipeline under railway line in the section at Boychinovtsi-Berkovitsa through horizontal drilling for site “Road I-1 (E79) bypass road of Montana town” with work on above 500m gas pipeline with operational dimensions ∅219×6mm and ∅426×8mm; building and installation works on relocation of gas pipeline at bypass road I-1 (E79) of Vratsa town with gas transmission branches ∅711×8mm and a gas transmission branch ПГХ-Chiren Himko ∅530×8mm; relocation of gas pipeline ∅711×9mm of Struma highway – Lot 2, section Dupnitsa – Blagoevgrad. All sites are entirely executed by teams and with equipment of Start Engineering JSC, and the installation works meet the highest standards in this area.
